Storm Damage & Insurance Claims

After a major storm, thousands of homeowners file roofing claims every year and a significant number of them either get underpaid, get denied on technicalities, or simply don't know they had covered damage at all. Insurance companies have their own adjusters working to minimise payouts. You deserve someone in your corner.

At Apex Roofing, we've worked hundreds of storm damage claims alongside homeowners. We know exactly how to document damage, what adjusters look for, and how to ensure you receive the full replacement you're entitled to under your policy not just a patch job that buys the insurance company another year.

Types of Storm Damage We Handle

Hail Damage
Hail damage to shingles is often invisible from the ground and easy for adjusters to undervalue. It shows up as dark impact marks โ€” called bruises โ€” where the granules have been knocked loose from the asphalt mat underneath. Over time, these spots deteriorate and cause leaks. We document every impact point with close-up photography and provide a full damage report.

Wind Damage
High winds lift shingles at the edges and ridges, breaking the seal strip that holds them flat. Once that seal is broken, wind and water get underneath. You may not see obvious missing shingles โ€” but a trained eye finds the lifted, creased, and cracked ones that indicate full wind damage.

Falling Debris & Tree Impact
Branches and debris can cause visible punctures, cracked decking, or damaged flashing. These are typically among the most straightforward claims โ€” but the scope of underlying damage often extends well beyond the visible impact zone.

Ice Dam & Freeze Damage
In colder climates, ice dams form at the eaves and force water backward under the shingles. This causes damage that's often mistaken for a plumbing leak or condensation issue. We identify ice dam damage and document it properly for your claim.

Our Insurance Claim Process

Step 1 โ€” Free Storm Damage Inspection
We inspect your roof at no charge and at no obligation. We photograph every area of damage, measure the affected sections, and prepare a damage report you can use immediately.

Step 2 โ€” We Help You File
We walk you through filing your claim with your insurance carrier โ€” including what to say, what documentation to submit, and how to describe the damage accurately so nothing gets minimised.

Step 3 โ€” We Meet the Adjuster
When your insurance adjuster comes out, we're there. We walk the roof alongside them, point out every documented damage item, and make sure nothing gets missed or dismissed.

Step 4 โ€” Scope Review & Approval
Once the adjuster submits their scope, we review it line by line. If anything is missing or undervalued, we supplement the claim โ€” a formal process where we submit additional evidence to get the scope corrected.

Step 5 โ€” Replacement & Completion
Once your claim is approved, we schedule your replacement, complete the work to the full approved scope, and handle all paperwork with the insurance carrier at project close.

Important note: You only pay your deductible. Everything covered by your insurance is handled through the claim. We never ask you to pay out of pocket for approved storm damage work.
